Our Story

Beginning in 2013, Gallop to Success has provided horsemanship camp programming that has enriched the lives of generations of young horse enthusiasts. The nurturing environment of our host Farm, and the challenging yet safe and predictable structure of our farm life, is the framework of the curriculum and the opportunities for learning and personal growth.

Through horses, we help young people rediscover their strength.

The youth in our summer day camp program range from ages 6 to 15 and come from a variety of challenging backgrounds, including poverty, abuse, family substance use, foster care, homelessness, and learning or behavioral difficulties. Some participants are on the Autism spectrum or have experienced bullying and isolation.

At GTS, children are given a safe, supportive environment where they can step away from daily challenges, build confidence, develop communication skills, and form meaningful connections with others.

Through hands-on experiences in farm life, horsemanship, equine behavior, and riding, GTS helps youth develop responsibility, teamwork, confidence, and compassion for animals. Participants learn valuable life skills while building trust, communication, and a sense of accomplishment in a supportive environment.

Therapeutic activities such as journaling and art therapy, led by Masters-level educators, provide additional opportunities for emotional growth, self-expression, and personal development.

Participants also engage in activities that support and uplift the local community. GTS has partnered with local senior citizen groups to share the joy of horses and farm life, and we remain committed to expanding these meaningful community connections in the future.

More than a program, a place to belong.

Our Community

Instructors and counselors enthusiastically share their love of horses and this is always delightfully contagious to the campers! We want to share the joy of riding so it may become a lifelong passion, as it has been for many of the Staff and Board.
